Job Overview:

School Chef for young people with learning disabilities near Sutton Coldfield, working from Monday to Friday only.

This role is ideal for chefs, who enjoy working independently and being surrounding with young adults with learning disabilities and who are looking for a relaxed working environment along with being back home early.

School Cook highlights:

  • Monday to Friday patterns only
  • Day time hours – From 9.00 am to 15.00 pm
  • £13.00 per hour.
  • 38 days paid holidays every year
  • Off and paid during school summer holidays and half terms.

School chef responsibilities:

  •  Planning menus, ordering, preparing and cooking lunches for approximately 15 learners.
  • Provide a healthy well-balanced diet to all students.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety measures are implemented in and out of the kitchen.
  • Plan cooking activities that enable learners to be involved in the whole process.
  • Manage the budget to ensure appropriate quantities of food are bought to support choice but minimise wastage.

School chef essential criteria:

  • Being able to manage the kitchen independently – Good organisation skills.
  • Have a good understanding of dietary requirements.
  • Able to work and interacting with young people with learning disabilities.
  • Clear criminal record – You will be required to complete a DBS check.
  • Hold a level 3 certificate in Food Hygiene (desired)
